I forgot to get a photo of the calamari!! The calamari was very good - the thing that stood out was the red dipping sauce. It's not like other thick, red marinara sauces that come with calamari. It's light, thin, and refreshing! Okay now that the side note is aside, I'll start the official review of La Pizza & La Pasta - a restaurant located inside Eataly LA at the Westfield Century City mall. If I remember correctly, this is the same or very similar to that of Eataly in Chicago. It was the first Eataly I went to so it's pretty special. I remember the restaurant being crowded and the food being good. At the time, I didn't pay attention to food as much as I do now but I thought the food I ordered was good? This time, not so much but still pretty good. We got there as soon as it opened as we had a reservation and my parents were hungry. They gave us free bread, which my parents really enjoyed. I loved how empty the place was as it was an opportunity take a photo of the restaurant without looking like a weirdo because I care about stuff like that. Anyway, the food came out very promptly and everything looked great. The price point is quite steep and I will argue you can get better food elsewhere at cheaper prices. However, since it's in Eataly, it's worth the visit if you're hungry as you get to shop around for other items. The Margherita Rustica reminds me of The Cheesecake Factory flatbread pizza. The Cheesecake Factory's flatbread pizza is my favorite flatbread pizza ever and this one was alright. I think there was lacking some cheese as I like my pizza cheesy. I think the Tagliatelle al Ragù was my favorite dish out of the three due to the brisket. It's so soft and tender. The sauce is okay and I was expecting the pasta to be al dente as it's handmade but it was standard. I still give the best ragu sauce to North Italia and the best pasta to Bestia as that's al dente. Neopolitan pizza. It's a new thing to me. Actually, pizza is a new thing to me as now, I'm a pizza freak. I never liked pizza before and now, all I crave is pizza. Neopolitan pizza is a pizza that's known to be soft and wet because the crust is very thin. It's cooked in a wood oven. I only had a small bite of the pizza as I can't stand pizza with meat. Midici makes a very good Neopolitan pizza and I don't think any place can compare as they have another standard. The whole trip was cool and a good and easy experience but next time, I would rather get my Italian food fix elsewhere. Elsewhere meaning somewhere cheaper and preferably closer to me.
